Windows Vista Printing. For hardware-specific issues, please use the Windows Vista Hardware forum. Sign in to vote. Thursday, April 24, AM. I can currently print from the Vista 64 machine via USB but I have not been able to set up the printer for wireless printing from Vista Things I have tried: 1. I have downloaded the latest version which claims to be Vista 64 compatible.
When I run the program it immediately exits without opening a window or displaying any message. I have confirmed that it quits via task manager. I have tried running the utility in Windows XP compatibility mode and as administrator.
In each case it terminates immediately. Using 'Add Network Printer' When I run the add network printer option it searches for the printer and fails to find it. So I gave it the specific IP address as used on the other laptop also ping'able. It talks to the printer but then fails to identify the port type, I selected 'Canon Network Printer' it then fails to identify the printer driver so I selected the IPR from the list.
Printing a test page fails with the printer control panel 'collecting printer status'. Creating a port directly The machine that does work seems to have a special port monitor configured which is not listed on the set of port types. However I have tried creating a port specifically for it and setting up custom settings. With it set to a port with the correct IP address and selecting LPB I did briefly manage to print a test page but this does not seem to work very well and after the initial success stopped working.
