Some of the game's main challenges simply have the player taking a photo, but there's not much else that can be done with a game based on a factual program. There was also a video game tie-in to Top Gear , the show three hosted before The Grand Tour , but that was at least a racing game.
Hell's Kitchen is such an entertaining reality show, but reality is the last genre of TV anybody would have thought translated well into a video game.
The game is all about time management, and there isn't much going on outside of making sure that meals are ready to go out on time. But the most surprising thing about this video game tie-in is just how tame the language is. Gordon Ramsey is almost known for his terrible language more than he's known for being a chef. The way he screams profanities at his staff in the TV show is his trademark and the series' biggest appeal, but given that the game was made for teenagers, there's barely a foul word to be heard.
Before Jackass: The Game's release, the crew of stunt performers already featured heavily in another game. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 took a "versus" approach, as it saw a team of world-class skaters team up against the Jackass crew and complete objectives in different locations across the world. Underground 2 is a great game, and the locations are incredibly detailed, but unfortunately, the same can't be said for Jackass: The Game.
Without skateboarding acting as a counterpart to the stunts, there's not much to enjoy. But with Jackass Forever just around the corner , it might be worth revisiting. So are the sob story interviews where people ramble on about their hobbies while showing us their wrecked rides. Most of the fun of watching the show comes from seeing those wizards of sheet metal find new ways to cram refrigerators and hot tubs into everyday cars that weren't meant to hold such things.
During the game, you never get to see the magic happen. Very little car pimping actually happens in the videogame rendition of Pimp My Ride. For each of the 16 customers you'll meet, you'll spend 10 minutes or so driving around the large, lifeless city: smashing into street signs, rear-ending other cars, and looking for urban-themed minigames all for the purpose of earning money to buy the parts you need. Once you've collected enough cash, a timer appears and the game becomes a mad dash to visit the different vendors located around the city, where you simply pick the parts you want from a list and complete a quick minigame to negotiate the price.
After that, it's back to the garage to see the customer's reaction. Details Edit. Release date March 4, United States. United States. MTV Tuning. Music Television MTV. Technical specs Edit. The final eight episodes previously aired in a June 9 marathon, a strategy MTV sometimes employs to generate buzz for shows ahead of their regular weekly time-slot premiere. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was so impressed by the biodiesel makeover he took part in on an upcoming environmentally-themed Pimp My Ride show, he insisted mechanics install the same engine under the bonnet of his Hummer.
And Schwarzenegger was stunned when Galpin Auto Sports mechanics fitted the classic car with an horsepower biofuel engine, equipped with recycled plastic bottles. He has now asked Galpin boss Beau Boeckman to fit the same engine in his own car. The three disc set includes all of the episodes from the first season of the surprise MTV hit series which stars rapper Xzibit. The box set comes in a bright neon green box, as seen above.
